Cardinals Vs. Cubs Score Update: Jeff Samardzija Has A Shutout Through Five

The Chicago Cubs are looking roll over the momentum from their come-from-behind victory over the rival St. Louis Cardinals on Monday night, keyed by a walk-off single from Joe Mather. Through five innings Tuesday night at Wrigley, Jeff Samardzija has kept up his end of the bargain. Samardzija has a shutout going as Chicago leads 1-0 against the Cards headed into the sixth.

Samardzija has struck out six while allowing just two hits and one walk on the evening. He's thrown 59 pitches through five.

The Cubs scored the game's only run in the bottom of the first inning. Starlin Castro hit a sacrifice fly to score right fielder David DeJesus, who already has two doubles tonight.

Wainwright has been effective, but he's already throw 83 pitches through five.
