The Chicago Cubs got off to a good start against the Oakland Athletics on Monday afternoon and built a 6-1 lead, but the A's were able to rally over the final four innings for an 8-7 win. The rally started with a four-run sixth inning and Oakland scored the go-ahead and eventual game-winning run in the top of the ninth inning.

Blake DeWitt was 1-2 with a walk and a three-run home run for Chicago, while Jeff Baker and Joe Mather collected two hits apiece. Ryan Dempster pitched 2-1/3 innings, allowing two hits, one run and striking out two.
