Cubs Vs. Padres Final Score: Paul Maholm Leads Chicago To 2-0 Win

The Chicago Cubs picked up another Spring Training victory this evening when Dale Sveum's team defeated the San Diego Padres 2-9 in split-squad action. Paul Maholm, is the favorite to nail down the fifth starter's spot in the Chicago rotation, got the start and pitched well. Maholm struck out six over five scoreless innings to propel the Cubs to the win.It was Maholm's third Cactus League start of the spring.

First baseman Bryan LaHair hit an RBI double for Chicago in the victory.

Closer Carlos Marmol entered in the six inning and did not allow any runs. Marmol hadn't pitched since last Tuesday when cramps in his throwing hand and neck and shoulder tightness forced an early exit.
