But six innings is obviously a small sample, and Samardzija will need to keep up that production if he's going to convince Cubs fans, and the the team's new brass, that he's ready to turn the corner and leave the inconsistencies that has plagued his career behind.

1. Reed Johnson, RF

2. Blake DeWitt, 3B

3. Alfonso Soriano, LF

4. Joe Mather, CF

5. Bryan LaHair, 1B

6. Wellington Castillo, C

7. Junior Lake, SS

8. Adrian Cardenas, 2B

9. Jeff Samardzija, P
