2012 Cubs Spring Training: Chicago Drops Pair Of Games Thursday

The Cubs played a pair of spring training contests on Thursday, dropping each of them and pushing their spring training mark to 6-7.

Ryan Dempster got the start in Chicago's matchup with the Arizona Diamondbacks, and he threw three and two thirds innings, allowing eight hits and three runs. Marlyn Bird and Starlin Castro led the offensive charge, as each collected a pair of hits.

In the second outing of the day, veteran rigthy Rodrigo Lopez started and threw three innings against the Colorado Rockies, allowing two runs on six hits. More importantly, however, he was able to stay in the game after being struck in the lower back in the third inning by a comebacker.

Blake Dewitt, the Cubs second baseman, left the game after being hit by a pitch on his right arm. There is no update on his status as of now.
