Cubs Drop Seventh In Row

It’s only June 6th, but it already looks like it ’s going to be a long summer for the Cubs and their fans. The Reds scored eight times and also got a great start from Mike Leake as they continued their dominance of the Cubs winning the series opener 8-2.

Matt Garza made his first start since May 17th and lasted only four innings giving up four runs on six hits. With the loss on Monday, Garza fell to 2-5 on the season.

The Cubs (23-35) were able to get ten hits on the night, lead by three hits each for Kosuke Fukudome and Blake Dewitt, but only two runs crossed the plate.

Mike Leake (5-2) gave the Reds exactly what they needed. Leake went eight innings and did give up ten hits but only allowed two runs to score. The Reds (31-30) are now 15-3 in their last 18 games against the Cubs.

The Cubs will look to even up the series on Tuesday evening.
