Brian Wilson Shuts Down Comes Comeback In The Ninth

Proving that their offensive explosion in the day game on Tuesday was anything but a fluke, the San Francisco Giants once again took it to the Cubs pitching staff, winning the second game of the two game set 6-3.

Rodrigo Lopez had a decent start going until the fifth inning. Through four, he had given up just one run an RBI single to Nate Schierholtz that scored Cody Ross, who had doubled to lead off the second inning. The Cubs were able to take the lead on a Lou Montanez two run home run in the bottom of the third, however.

But the wheels came off in the fifth inning. Lopez gave up another run, and then two more hits before he was pulled from the game in favor of John Grabow. Grabow ended up being worse, however, allowing his two inherited runners to score and two additional runners, putting the Giants up 6-2. Aramis Ramirez led off the ninth inning with a home run, but that was all the come back that the Cubs could muster.

Barry Zito finished the night with the win, after throwing seven innings and giving up two runs on four hits, two walks, and three strikeouts.
