Cubs Get To Oswalt In First Inning ,But Score No More As Phils Prevail

Roy Oswalt has had an excellent career since he came up with the Astros ten years ago. The one team he has struggled the most against though was his opponent on Sunday, the Chicago Cubs (25-39). The Cubs jumped out to an early lead against Oswalt and the Phillies, but couldn’t score after the first inning and fell to Philadelphia (40-26) in the series finale 4-3.

Doug Davis pitched ok for the Cubs. Davis went five innings allowing two runs on five hits. He did have some control issues walking five in five innings, but did turn the ball over to the bullpen with the lead. Sean Marshall struggled for the second straight game and took the loss. Marshall is now 3-1 on the season.

Roy Oswalt rebounded from a tough first inning to earn his fourth win of the season. Oswalt (4-4) went seven innings and allowed three runs on five hits.
Ryan Madson pitched a perfect ninth to earn his 15th save of the season.

The Cubs return home Monday to open a series with the surging Milwaukee Brewers.
