Carlos Zambrano came into Monday Nights game against the Reds looking to win his 11th road start in a row. The Reds put a stop to that thanks to a seven run sixth inning in which they sent twelve men to the plate.
Things looked great for Zambrano and the Cubs after five and a half innings. They lead the Reds 4-0 and Zambrano had only allowed one hit. Then the wheels fell off for the Cubs. The key play was a flyball hit by Scott Rolen which was misplayed by Alfonso Soriano resulting in a game tying double. The Reds went on to score three more times to win the game 7-4.
Homer Bailey got the win improving his record to 3-0. Carlos Zambrano took the loss dropping his record to 4-2. Francisco Cordero pitched a perfect ninth to earn his eighth save of the season.
The Cubs will try to even up the series on Tuesday evening.
