Though Matt Garza continued striking out opposing batters at a high clip, Saturday evening’s start didn’t go quite as swimmingly as his first, and he finds himself still winless on the season. Garza gave up five runs in 5 2/3 innings on eight hits and three walks.
The Cubs were able to get some hits off of Chris Narveson in the beginning of the game, but just couldn’t come through as Carlos Pena struck out to end the inning. Pena also had two more strikeouts on the night, and left six runners stranded total. Overall, the Cubs left twelve men on base on six hits and two walks.
Casey Coleman will be recalled for tomorrow’s start in the rubber match with the Brewers, taking the roster spot of Randy Wells. He’ll be going up against Yovani Gallardo, who threw a two-hitter in his first start of the season. First pitch for Sunday afternoon’s game will be at 1:10 P.M. CDT.
