Jhoulys Chacin continued his impressive start to the season, and Colorado continued their dominating run as the Rockies trampled the Cubs Friday night at Coors Field. Chacin threw a complete game shut-out, limiting the Cubs to just six hits and two walks on the night. He also struck out seven.
Most of the Cubs offense came in the form of Aramis Ramirez, who went 3-for-4 with a double, but the rest of the lineup was silent in the face of Chacin.
Matt Garza got through the first inning, but was rocked four four earned runs in the second, led by a Chris Ianetta bases clearing triple. Ianetta would score himself on a throwing error by Starlin Castro. The Rockies added another in the fifth, but by then the game was put away as the Cubs left ten men on base.
The second game of the series will take place on Saturday evening at 7:10 P.M. CDT.
