This past week was a busy one in Cubs camp, while the White Sox had a quieter week. The Cubs had a couple of days of national media attention after Carlos Silva and Aramis Ramirez got into it in the dugout after Silva got upset over some fielding miscues. There were multiple meetings, and since that day, the Cubs have made only one error in four games -- so maybe it had some effect.
The White Sox have gotten off to a very slow start this spring, winning only one of their first seven games. Further, slugger Adam Dunn is also off to a rough start, going only 3-for-14, all singles. The Sox, in fact, have hit only one home run in the first week of spring games -- that by Alex Rios. They did make news yesterday by signing closer Matt Thornton to a two-year, $15 million contract extension. They'll be playing the Diamondbacks in a game in their former shared spring training home in Tucson on Monday, a benefit game for the victims of the shootings in Tucson in January.
