No, Ryan Dempster isn't planning on leaving town soon -- he's one of the senior Cubs in terms of longevity with the team (now entering his eighth year on the North Side) -- and appears to really enjoy Chicago, Wrigley Field and playing for the Cubs.
↵↵But he owns a 13-room house in Lakeview that's been on the market for more than a year. Why is this home for sale?
↵↵Dempster placed the five-bedroom home on the market because he traded up to another, newly-built house a few blocks away that he had purchased in late 2008 for $2.69 million.↵↵
The original asking price was $2.25 million; it's been reduced to $1.95 million, lower than the asking price for Ted Lilly's house at Waveland and Lakewood. And that's not the only real estate Dempster owns near Wrigley Field:
↵↵Dempster, 33, has what may be the heftiest local residential real estate portfolio of any Cubs player. He also continues to own a condo in the neighborhood, which he purchased in 2009 for $480,000.
