According to a report from SI's Jon Heyman, the Chicago Cubs have their next manager:
@SI_JonHeyman: Sveum will be cubs manager, though it still isn't finalized yet.
Dale Sveum (pronounced swaym) was one of five candidates for the open Chicago Cubs manger position. Word came out last night that the Cubs had offered Sveum the Cubs manger position, but Sveum was still in the final process of a second interview with the Boston Red Sox.
The Cubs had considered a combined five candidates, including Sveum, Mike Maddux, Sandy Alomar Jr., Pete Mackanin, DeMarlo Hale, and Terry Francona -- who did not require an actual interview, given his history with Theo Epstein and the Cubs management.
Sveum served as a hitting coach for the Milwaukee Brewers since 2006 and is a purportedly an analytically-progressive thinker, like much of the new Cubs front office.
