According to multiple reports, the Chicago Cubs have offered their managerial job to Milwaukee Brewers hitting coach Dale Sveum. Sveum is also reportedly a managerial finalist with the Boston Red Sox. Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman tweeted that Sveum is very likely the Cubs' next manager.
Heyman, who is apparently indifferent towards punctuation and capitalization, added this:
SI_JonHeyman cubs people arent commenting except to say process is "moving along.'' yes, it has moved right to sveum, who will be guy
Sveum played 12 seasons in the MLB, getting drafted by the Brewers 25th overall in the 1982 amateur draft. He hit .236 for his career with 69 home runs. He also briefly played for the White Sox in 1992.
Sveum managed 12 games for Milwaukee in 2008 after Ned Yost was fired, compiling a 7-5 record. As a third base coach in Boston, Sveum was famous for aggressively sending runners home.
