Cubs Finished With 1st Round Of Interviews

The Chicago Cubs interviewed Sandy Alomar Jr. on Friday; Alomar is the fourth managerial candidate to go through an interview with the Cubs. Dale Sveum, Mike Maddux and Pete Mackanin have also interviewed for the job. New general manager Jed Hoyer told MLB.com's Carrie Muskat that the club will probably pick from those four guys, though they haven't completely ruled out bringing more candidates in:

Asked if that was the field, Hoyer said, "Probably, yes. We may make some phone calls. I wouldn’t guarantee that it is but we feel really good about the four guys we brought in. We had four very good interviews. I wouldn’t rule out an additional candidate but it’s not a certainty."

When asked about a timetable, Hoyer said that he and Theo Epstein would continue to talk about the matter at the GM meetings in Milwaukee next week.
