Derrick Rose injury: Star PG joins Bulls on road trip

Bulls point guard Derrick Rose is accompanying his teammates on the road for the first time since tearing his ACL last April.

Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose will spend the week traveling with his teammates as they face back-to-back road games against the Orlando Magic and Miami Heat, according to ESPN Chicago's Nick Friedell. Rose traveled to Florida on Tuesday night and will remain there with his teammates through Friday's game in South Beach.

For Rose, who continues to rehab from a torn ACL in his left knee, this is his first time traveling with the team since suffering the injury last April. The point guard watched his teammates play the Clippers in Los Angeles on Nov. 17, but that's where he's been executing his rehab with doctors.

While this doesn't necessarily mean that Rose is any closer to returning to the court than he was, say, a week ago, it's at least nice to see that steady progress is being made on some level. Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau continues to insist that Rose is far away from playing condition, but the return date is undoubtedly creeping closer.
