Brian Scalabrine May Return To Chicago Bulls Next Season As Assistant Coach

CSN's Aggrey Sam is reporting that the Chicago Bulls are considering Brian Scalabrine for their vacant assistant coaching spot. The job was made available after Rick Brunson left Chicago to take a position with the Charlotte Bobcats.

The NBA veteran spent the last two years as a bench player for the Bulls, logging just 210 minutes in 48 games over that span.

The transition would most likely be an easy one for Scalabrine, who has spent much of the last two years serving as a mentor for younger players.

The immensely popular forward expressed his desire to continue to play, but the Bulls' front office feels he would contribute more from a coaching role. Scalabrine has a long-standing relationship with Bulls' coach Tom Thibodeau.
