Nazr Mohammed Signing: Bulls Agree To Terms With Free Agent Center

The Chicago Bulls have officially announced the signing of free agent C Nazr Mohammed. News of the signing had filtered through the rumor channels last week, but the team had not confirmed the deal until Friday morning.

The 34-year-old Mohammed -- whose first name is pronounced NAH-zee -- is a 14-year veteran who has spent the last two seasons split with the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Charlotte Bobcats. Playing from the bench in the 2011-12 season, Mohammed appeared in 63 games with one start, averaging 8.9 points and 8.8 rebounds per 36 minutes.

Mohammed is expected to replace C Omer Asik on the bench. Asik joined the Houston Rockets earlier in the week when the Bulls officially declined to match the Rockets' offer sheet.
