Omer Asik Contract Update: Asik Signs Offer Sheet With Rockets

The three-year, $25.1 million "poison pill" offer sheet agreed to by Chicago Bulls center Omer Asik and the Houston Rockets has been news for weeks now. Asik, though, never actually signed the contract until Friday night. Ken Berger of CBSSports.com reported on Friday night that Asik has finally put pen to paper, accelerating the timeline that will eventually determine where Asik plays basketball for the next three seasons.

Chicago, though, has yet to formally receive the offer sheet from Houston, meaning that their 48-hour window in which to match or not match the deal has yet to start. There has been no indication of when the Bulls expect to receive the offer sheet, but common sense would hold that it will be sometime over the weekend.
