Bulls Free Agency 2012: Mike McGraw Believes Chicago Has Reached Out To Greg Oden

Noting that the team has casted an extremely wide net this year, Mike McGraw of the Daily Herald suggests that the Chicago Bulls have already reached out to free agent center Greg Oden this offseason. Oden was released by the Portland Trail Blazers this year after proving to be one of the biggest busts in NBA history.

Once considered one of the best young big men in history after being selected No. 1 overall in 2007, a variety of injuries have made it essentially impossible for Oden to reach his lofty potential. Teams continue to show interest in the center despite those struggles, though, given his size, pedigree and youth.

Even after appearing in just 82 games over the past four seasons, one could still argue that Oden has a shot at making it in the NBA. Despite all of those wasted years, he's still just 24 years old, and the size that always made him so intriguing has never gone away. It's a combination of factors that will likely land him a job next season if he can stay healthy.
