Despite what it's seemed like this offseason, not every night of the NBA free agency period can feature multiple franchise-altering moves. But there were some important— if not decidedly minor— moves made on Wednesday. Here they are, with rumors excluded:
- The Brooklyn Nets signed center Brook Lopez to a max contract worth $61 million over four years. The Nets needed to sign Lopez in order to keep a potential Dwight Howard trade alive; if Lopez had signed an offer sheet with another team, the Nets would've been banned from trading him for one year if they matched the offer. By signing him outright, they are eligible to trade him starting this December.
- The Nets also officially signed Russian Mirza Teletovic to the taxpayer mid-level exception for three years and $9.7 million. Teletovic is more or less only a three-point shooter, but he is deadly from long range.
- The Portland Trail Blazers agreed to a one-year contract with power forward J.J. Hickson, who the team picked up late last season. Terms of the deal have not yet been released. In 19 games for Portland, he averaged 15 points and eight rebounds on 54% shooting.
- Portland also officially inked 2009 first round pick Victor Claver. Claver is coming over from Spain, and signed a three-year deal worth a total of $4 million.
- The Dallas Mavericks traded center Ian Mahinmi to the Indiana Pacers for point guard Darren Collison and wing player Dahntay Jones. Collison's score-first style never really meshed in Indiana, but he may take over the starting gig for the Mavs.
- The Mavs also used the amnesty clause on center Brendan Haywood, who had over $26 million left on the final three years of his deal.
- Dallas was not done on Wednesday night, as they replaced Haywood with Chris Kaman. Kaman's deal is for one year, though terms have yet to be announced. Kaman was teammates with Dirk Nowitzki on the German national team in 2008.
- The New York Knicks signed Argentine point guard Pablo Prigioni for what is believed to be the rookie minimum. Prigioni is 35-years-old and has spent the last nine years playing in Spain. He's expected to be the Knicks third point guard, after Jeremy Lin and Jason Kidd.
- The Golden State Warriors acquired Jarrett Jack in the three-team trade with the Philadelphia Sixers that sent ex-Warrior Dorrell Wright to Philly. The Hornets acquired Euro prospect Edin Bavcic, more importantly moved Jack's $5.4 million salary off the books.
