2012 NBA Draft Rumors: Bulls Setting Up Workout With SG Orlando Johnson

The Chicago Bulls are certainly in the market for a capable scorer heading into next season, and UC Santa Barbara shooting guard Orlando Johnson is trying to finalize a workout with the team for next week, according to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune. Orlando Johnson is currently projected to land with the Bulls at pick No. 29 in the 2012 NBA Draft on the Draft Express mock from June 1. The 6-foot-5 guard boasts a versatile skill-set and a wingspan 0.25 inches longer than lottery pick Jeremy Lamb.

He averaged 19.7 points per game on 45.1 percent shooing and 42.7 percent accuracy beyond the arc, scoring on an array of pull-up jumpers and catch-and-shoot opportunities. The Draft Express scouting report says he lacks a potent first step and struggles to create good opportunities with the ball in his hands, which is what limits his NBA upside and pushes him to the late first-round, but the Bulls need anyone who has a knack for scoring to carry the load while Derrick Rose and Luol Deng heal up at the beginning of the year. The Bulls have already gone through workouts with combo guards Jared Cunningham and Doron Lamb.
