Tom Thibodeau Visits Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick

As they say in the hip-hop game, real recognize real.

That's why it's kind of cool to hear ESPN Mike Reiss report on Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau's visit to see New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

Quotes and jokes after the jump.

It's not unusual for coaches -- even ones with perceived anti-social tendencies like Thibs and Belichick -- to meet with each other and talk shop. It's especially not surprising when it's not even the same sport. But for someone as singularly football-minded as Belichick, he sure had some nice things to say about his basketball counterpart.

"Tom has done a great job. I respected him with what he did here at Boston, his defensive patterns and also obviously his job in Chicago."

Belichick was likely happier with Thibs' Celtics work due to his local affiliation with the team. He was seen at a C's playoff game just this year.

"So what exactly are they meeting about?" one might wonder. Don't worry, Belichick kept to his "be vague about everything" roots with his answer.

"There are a lot of questions I want to ask them about running a team, getting ready for a season, and things like that," he said. "I hope they'll be able to help me out."

Though that statement is admittedly vanilla, one can't help but picture the possibilities of two of the greatest defensive minds in their respective sports discussing the ins and outs of being in charge of such marquee franchises. The schemes, the tendencies, the strategies, the ideas, the evolution. Almost like Harvard professors debating dissertations at the highest possible level.

Plus Tony La Russa is joining them, too.
