Luol Deng Injury: Deng Will Play In Olympics, May Miss Part Of Next Season

Luol Deng was born in the United Kingdom, and thus is eligible to play for the country's national team. He recently toldESPN Chicago that he's "definitely" going to put off surgery on the torn ligament in his left wrist in order to compete in the 2012 Summer Olympics, a decision which could potentially keep him out for the beginning of the 2012-2013 season.

Deng noted that the injury could heal without surgery, which would obviously be the best of both worlds for him and the Bulls. But he did have the same injury in his right wrist in his rookie season, and he was forced to have it surgically repaired. Regardless, Deng is intent on playing in the Olympics either way, and when asked if the Bulls had any input on his final decision, he said, "It's my decision, it's totally my decision."
