Derrick Rose No. 3 on list of best players ever from Chicago area

Chicago Bulls' point guard Derrick Rose came in at No. 3 in an ESPN list of the all-time top 10 NBA players from the Chicago area.

Derrick Rose came in at No. 3 on a recent ESPN list of the all-time top 10 NBA players from the Chicago area. Rose won two state championships in high school at Simeon before becoming an NBA MVP with the Chicago Bulls.

Rose was a McDonald's All-American and Illinois Mr. Basketball in 2007 before spending one year of college at Memphis. He led the Tigers to the national championship game and was drafted No. 1 overall in the 2008 NBA Draft by his hometown Bulls. In four NBA seasons, Rose has made three All-Star teams and led the Bulls to the playoffs each season.

Rose is currently recovering from a torn ACL he suffered during the playoffs last season, but the Bulls expect him to return to the court before this season is done.
