NBA power rankings 2012: Bulls rise into top 10

The Chicago Bulls are ranked among the top 10 teams in many NBA power rankings from around the web.

After one week of the season the Chicago Bulls are in the top 10 of many NBA power rankings from around the web. Without their star point guard, Derrick Rose, the Bulls won their first two games of the season before falling to the New Orleans Hornets on Nov. 3. With Rose out, Chicago is relying on tough defense to win games.

In Seth Rosenthal's power rankings at SB Nation, the Bulls have not cracked the top 10, coming in at No. 12. Rosenthal admits he isn't sure what to make of Chicago without Rose:

Not gonna lie to you, babe: I don't have even an inkling of a sense of who the Bulls are this season. I can reasonably surmise that they'll play some defense, but I don't know much else.

Elsewhere the Bulls received a higher ranking. At ESPN, Marc Stein ranked Chicago sixth, up six spots from last week. John Schuhmann of NBA.com has the Bulls at No. 11, while Kurt Helin of Pro Basketball Talk and Matt Moore of CBS both have Chicago ninth. Overall that gives the Bulls an average ranking of 9.4. Whatever their ranking, all the power rankers seem to agree Chicago is excellent on defense, but struggles on offense.
