The Chicago Bulls will miss out on a matchup between Derrick Rose and Kyrie Irving on Friday, but at least they won't have to see Nate Robinson get stater's minutes. Veteran guard Kirk Hinrich is recovering nicely from a sore groin that slowed him down during the preseason, and he will get the start on Friday night. That means Hinrich's defensive reputation will be put to the test against one of the NBA's best young point guards.
Hinrich recently told the Chicago Tribune that he feels up to the challenge:
"He's good, man. He has a very good handle. He can score in a lot of different ways. I just play him as tough as I can, stick with what we're trying to do as a team and try to guard him as a group."
Irving won the NBA Rookie of the Year award last season, when he finished first in scoring (18.5 ppg), field goal percentage (.469) and free throw percentage (.872), and second in assists (5.4 apg) and three-point field goal percentage (.399) among all members of the 2011 NBA Draft class.
