The Chicago Bulls won their preseason-opener, 92-88, over the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday. Kirk Hinrich is set to play the role of starting PG until Derrick Rose is ready to return from knee surgery, and Hinrich was impressive on Tuesday. Despite his poor offense (1-4 with five points), Blog A Bull took note of Hinrich's play, particularly his contributions on defense. Although Hinrich only recorded two blocks and a steal, Blog A Bull notes, "(Hinrich) was responsible for far more Grizzly turnovers than that."
Hinrich and the Bulls turned several of those turnovers into a 21-4 run in the third quarter to give Chicago a big lead. Blog A Bull also notes that Hinrich ran the break well, as the starting unit was its most effective in transition. The Chicago bench nearly blew the lead Hinrich and the starters had built up, going 1 for 21 in the fourth quarter, but the Bulls held on for the win.
