If you pay really close attention to our Starting Lineup -- and I know you do -- you may have noticed an item last weekend regarding Chicago Bulls legend and ambassador Scottie Pippen attending a women's biathlon in Maine. In case you don't know, a biathlon is a winter sport that combines a lengthy cross-country skiing run with a rousing round of target shooting using a rifle. Turns out, Scottie liked it so much, he decided to give it a try. Well, the rifle part at least.
↵In a post on ESPN's Page Two, writer Nathaniel Herz gives a lively account of the Hall of Fame forward's foray into target shooting. Pertinent quotes from Pip include, "Y'all get back!" and "I need another clip." Interestingly, it turns out Scottie was attending the event with Sergey Kushchenko, who is the CEO of the Russian Biathlon Union and an associate of Mikhail Prokhorov, owner of the New Jersey Nets. (Wonder if they talked about the "impending" Carmelo Anthony deal. IT'S HAPPENING?!)
↵Scottie Pippen will be joining former Bull B.J. Armstrong as well as Bill Walton, AC Green, Jalen Ros and, tragically, pop star Justin Bieber at tonight's 2011 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game in Los Angeles. A full description of the festivities can be found here.
