It's not exactly difficult to get excited about Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose these days. He's having an MVP-caliber season and is shaping up to be the kind of high-impact player that NBA teams dream about drafting, developing and putting on the court. Nonetheless, we'll take our kicks where we can get them, sunshine.
↵To wit, the latest Adidas ad featuring DRose, entitled "Fast World Rose," is a thing of beauty:
↵ ↵A production company called Stardust Studios created the ad for 180 LA, the agency engaged by Adidas to market its signature line of basketball footwear. The clip features live game footage edited together with audio from Rose interviews. Stardust then "... treated virtually every frame, hand-tracing and rotoscoping the material, building '2 ½-D' environments, then placing cel animation into the environments," according to advertising website Shoot.
↵Riiiiight. We just know that it looks damn cool. The ad's air date was Feb. 1, and Adidas posted a YouTube clip on Feb. 7. Sneaker fetishists enthusiasts seem to be picking up the story just today, however. (As are we, evidently enough.) Another ad with the same theme features Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic.
