Derrick Rose did not score in the first quarter for Chicago, and in fact only attempted one shot, but the Bulls got six points from Joakim Noah and the bench hit four of five field goal attempts. Chicago ran into some foul trouble quickly, as both Richard Hamilton and Noah already have two fouls. Hamilton played just three minutes in the opening quarter and did not attempt a shot.
Pau Gasol leads Los Angeles with eight points, while Kobe Bryant has six. Overall, the Lakers were 9-19 from the field in the first quarter. The Bulls shot 10-19 and hit the quarter's lone three-pointer.
