The 2012 NHL Draft gets underway on Friday night and there has been plenty of speculation which prospects will be taken where. In his latest mock draft for NHL.com, Steven Hoffner predicts that the Chicago Blackhawks will select goaltender Malcolm Subban with the No. 18 overall pick. Here's what Hoffner has to say about Subban:
Impressed at the Combine and has the drive to be a No. 1 goalie in the NHL
Subban is rated No. 1 among North American goaltenders by NHL Central Scouting and No. 2 by International Scouting Services.
Subban spent the 2011-12 season with Belleville in the Ontario Hockey League.
Subban won 25 games during an injury plagued 2011-12 campaign, ranking fourth in the Ontario Hockey League with a 2.50 goals-against average and tied for fifth with a .923 save-percentage. The agile netminder also represented Team Canada at the 2011 Under-18 World Championship, finishing the tournament with a 2.98 goals-against average and a .913 save-percentage.
