Blackhawks Vs. Coyotes, 2012 NHL Playoffs Game 3: Chicago Takes 1-0 Lead Into 3rd Period

After two periods at the United Center, the Chicago Blackhawks lead the Phoenix Coyotes 1-0 in Game 3 of the first round of the 2012 NHL playoffs. The second period was scoreless, but heated: the two teams scraped at the end of the second with goalies Corey Crawford and Mike Smith staring each other down before exiting the ice.

Patrick Kane's goal at the end of the first period remains the only score of the night.

Four penalties were handed out in the second, three on Phoenix. Of note was Raffi Torres who whistled for two minutes for tripped Chicago's Viktor Stalberg. Torres laid out Marian Hossa of the Blackhawks in the first period. He should soon be hearing from the same league officers that suspended Chicago's Andrew Shaw for three games for his Game 2 hit on Smith.
