Blackhawks Vs. Coyotes, 2012 NHL Playoffs Game 3: Chicago Leads 1-0 After 1st Period

The Chicago Blackhawks and Phoenix Coyotes seemed destined to head into the second period of Game 3 of their opening round series in the 2012 NHL playoffs in a scoreless tie, but Chicago's Patrick Kane had other ideas. Kane lit the lamp with :29 seconds remaining to give the 'Hawks a 1-0 lead after the first period at the United Center on Tuesday night.

Kane's goal was his first of the postseason. The assists were credited to Nick Leddy and Marcus Kruger.

There were only three penalties in the first period of Game 3, all three committed by Chicago's Brandon Bollig. Bollig was whistled for two minutes for roughing Phoenix's Kyle Chipchura three minutes into the game. Halfway through the first period, Bollig was called for roughing on star Raffi Torres and was given a 10 minute misconduct penalty.
