Andrew Shaw Hit: Blackhawks Forward Has Hearing With NHL Dept. Of Player Safety On Monday

On Saturday night, Chicago Blackhawks Andrew Shaw dealt a blow to the head to Phoenix goaltender Mike Smith, which resulted in his ejection from the game. The NHL is reviewing the matter, and on Monday Shaw will meet with the league's Department of Player Safety, and he could be facing a multi-game suspension.

The Blackhawks' feisty rookie winger has a Monday hearing with the NHL's discipline honchos regarding the second-period, shoulder-to-head collision that had Smith writhing on the ice for a few minutes in a Game 2 Hawks' victory Saturday.

After the game was over, Shaw said the incident was an accident.

The Blackhawks defeated the Coyotes 4-3 in overtime on Saturday to even their series 1-1.
