The Chicago Blackhawks will enter the third period of Friday night's game in a 1-1 tie with the New York Rangers. After allowing a late goal in the first period, the Blackhawks waited nearly 15 minutes of game time to even the score at one apiece.
Andrew Shaw tied the game at 14:28 in the period. Earlier in the game, Shaw collided with Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist and left the ice with a cut on his face. But, as the goal shows, he came back stitched up and was in a position to tie the game. Johnny Oduya and Bryan Bickell assisted on the play.
Mike Rupp and Brandon Bollig received five minute majors at 2:57 in the period while the other two penalties came before and after Shaw's goal.
Both teams have puts 16 shots on net with Lundqvist and Ray Emery each making 15 stops.
