Blues Vs. Blackhawks Score Update: Overtime Is Next After Chicago Blows Lead

The Chicago Blackhawks looked like they were on their way to victory after scoring back-to-back goals to take a 3-1 lead against the St. Louis Blues early in the third period. St. Louis has made its way back into the game, though, and now things are going to overtime after the Blues knotted things up in a 3-3 tie.

Here's how the four goals in the period played out:

  • Andrew Burnette scored his 12th goal of the season to give Chicago a 2-1 lead roughly four minutes into the third period.
  • Nearly nine minutes into the period, Patrick Sharp scored his 31st goal of the season to give the Blackhawks a 3-1 lead.
  • Less than a minute after Sharp's goal, the Blues begin their comeback with Jason Arnott's 17th goal of the season. 3-2 Chicago.
  • Finally, with St. Louis scrambling to tie the game up with less than two minutes remaining, Kris Russell scores his sixth goal of the season to tie the game back up at 3-3.
  • Now, the Blackhawks will have to regain some momentum in overtime in order to beat one of the NHL's elite.
