Blues Vs. Blackhawks Score Update: St. Louis Leads 3-1 After First Period

The Chicago Blackhawks are trailing 3-1 after one period at the United Center following a major run by the St. Louis Blues in the final 16-plus minutes of the period. The Blackhawks initially took the lead in front of their home crowd, but Chicago couldn't stop the Blues' offensive attack.

After Andrew Brunette scored his 11th goal of the season just a few minutes into the game to give Chicago an early 1-0 lead, Blackhawks goaltender Ray Emery looked totally overmatched against a powerful St. Louis team. The Blues only mustered six shots over the entire period, but Emery was only able to save a measly half of them.

Roughly a minute after Brunette's goal, the Blues tied the game back up when Jamie Langenbrunner scored his fifth goal of the season. Andy McDonald followed that up for St. Louis a few minutes later with his ninth goal of the season to give the Blues the lead, and Patrik Berglund added to the advantage with his 16th goal of the season nearly ten minutes after that.
