The Chicago Blackhawks continued to pick up the pressure in the second period after a bit of a sluggish start, and they eventually evened the score at one. Marcus Kruger got Chicago on the board for the first time at 12:47 of the second period with his ninth goal of the season.
But the Kings answered about five minutes later with a goal by Jeff Carter to re-claim the lead; the goal was Carter's 19th of the season.
Chicago out-shot Los Angeles 10-4 in the period, pulling the shots even at 21 overall.
