Maple Leafs Vs. Blackhawks Score Update: Chicago Trails 3-2 After Wild First Period

The Chicago Blackhawks are trailing 3-2 against the Toronto Maple Leafs following a wild, high-scoring first period on Wednesday night. The Blackhawks haven't led in the game but are still firmly in things despite a weak defensive effort.

Less than a minute into the game, Toronto scored its first goal on a wrist shot from Tyler Bozak, who scored his 14th goal of the season. The Blackhawks responded nearly ten minutes later with a goal by rookie Andrew Shaw, his sixth of the season, to tie the game up at one. But just 30 seconds after the Shaw goal, Toronto immediately took back the lead on Joffrey Lupul's 25th goal of the season.

Toronto then added to its lead nearly 17 minutes into the period with a third goal, this time by Clarke McArthur. The Blackhawks avoided taking a two-goal deficit into the second period, though, with Marcus Kruger scoring his eighth goal of the season with just 30 seconds left in the period.
