The Chicago Blackhawks are still trying to make up for ground that was lost during a recent, brutal losing streak, but they're trailing 1-0 against the St. Louis Blues on Sunday afternoon. The two teams were scoreless for most of the first period in the United Center, but the Blues broke through with the game's first score less than a minute before the end of the period.
Despite having two power play advantages in the period, Chicago looked pretty outmatched by St. Louis early. The Blues dominated in terms of shots on goal with a 14-4 advantage, and Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford could only keep the St. Louis offense in check for a bit. The Blues' Andy McDonald scored the goal with 24 seconds left in the first period, his third of the season.
