Patrick Sharp scored a goal for the Chicago Blackhawks in the first period, but he may also have suffered an injury on the play that has kept him out of the remainder of the game. The team announced at the start of the third period that Sharp would not be returning to Sunday's game. He did not play in the second period either.
NBC Chicago's Peggy Kusinski speculated about the timing of the injury:
Sharp skated a few shifts after his 1st period goal, though, so hard to tell when injury came up. Likely on the 2 hits on goal, chin slash
The goal was Sharp's 20th of the season and gave Chicago a 2-0 lead on the Red Wings.
