Sabres Vs. Blackhawks Score Update: Chicago Leads 2-1 After One Period

The Chicago Blackhawks are leading 2-1 after one period against the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night. Chicago initially trailed after giving up an early goal to Buffalo, but it responded with a pair of quick goals later in the period to get ahead.

Roughly halfway through the period, Jason Pominville came through with his 16th goal of the season to give the Sabres a 1-0 lead on the road. Just a few minutes later, rookie Andrew Shaw came through with his fifth goal of the season in just eight games. Shaw's now scored a goal in four consecutive appearances.

And just a few minutes after Shaw's goal, Jonathan Toews scored his 25th goal of the season on a power play to give Chicago the 2-1 lead. Patrick Kane and Brent Seabrook assisted on that one. Chicago had a 14-10 shot advantage over Buffalo in the first period and didn't have a single penalty.
