It was a thrilling 20 minutes of hockey in Chicago, as the San Jose Sharks and Chicago Blackhawks combined to score three goals in the second period. After allowing the Sharks to tie the game up, the Blackhawks scored the final goal of the period to take the 3-2 lead.
The Sharks struck twice in the first three minutes to even the score. Joe Pavelski netted his 17th goal of the season, with Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Joe Thornton setting up Pavelski for the opening goal of the game for San Jose. It was Jamie McGinn who evened up the score with his ninth goal of the season on an assist from Torrey Mitchell.
Jonathan Toews gave the Blackhawks the 3-2 lead with his 24th goal of the season. Patrick Kane and Viktor Stalberg combined to setup the key goal for Toews. This was the second point of the game for Stalberg, who also scored a goal in the first period.
