The Chicago Blackhawks have pulled out to a 4-1 lead going into the final period of Thursday night's game against the Minnesota Wild. The two teams were tied 1-1 after the first period, but the Blackhawks dominated the second period in front of the home fans in the United Center.
While the Blackhawks didn't get a game-leading goal until nearly midway through the second period, they came quickly after that. Jimmy Hayes scored his third goal of the season to put Chicago up 2-1 on a power play, and Viktor Stalberg quickly followed up less than a minute later by scoring his 13th goal of the season.
Then a few minutes later on another power play, Dave Bolland scored the insurance goal to put the Blackhawks up 4-1, his 11th goal of the season. Even though the Blackhawks only got eight shots on goal during the period, they still scored on three of those shots and doubled the Wild's shot total.
