The Chicago Wolves of the AHL share a striking similarity with the Chicago Blackhawks of the NHL. Both teams are perched precariously on the very outer fringe of their respective playoff races. The 'Hawks, of course, sit in the eighth seed of the Western Conference. Meanwhile, the Wolves, the minor-league affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers, are lodged in a three-way tie for the last seed (fourth) in their own division -- the AHL's West.
↵Will the Wolves prevail? Hard to say at this point. Their next game isn't until tomorrow tonight when they visit the Houston Aeros. But if you're a believer in the 37-28-3-6 team that's amassed 83 points in 74 games, you can buy tickets for the first round of the 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs this Friday, April 1, at 11 a.m. As mentioned, who the Wolves will face in the postseason, assuming they make it, is yet to be determined.
↵The team offers a playoff package that secures the same seat for all 16 possible games, or you can buy a playoff flex pack or, simply, individual game tickets. For more info, call 1-800-THE-WOLVES or visit chicagowolves.com.
