Kings Vs. Blackhawks Score Update: Goalies Keep Game Scoreless After One

The Chicago Blackhawks have risen to the top of the NHL standings thanks to stellar play at home, but the Los Angeles appear to be intimidated. After a back-and-forth first period with quality scoring opportunities on both ends, the Blackhawks and Kings are deadlocked on zero on Wednesday at the United Center. The 'Hawks are looking for their eighth win in nine games.

Both goalies have been outstanding thus far. Chicago's Corey Crawford has been impressive in his few starts, and stopped 13 LA shots on net in the first period. Jonathan Quick has also been very good this year (2.16 GAA), and he stopped ten shots by the Blackhawks in the opening period.

Each team drew two penalties in the first. John Scott (two minutes for roughing) and Patrick Sharp (four minute double minor for high sticking) were each whistled for Chicago. Brad Richard (two minutes for hooking) and Drew Doughty (two minutes for interference) were the culprits for the Kings.
