The Chicago Blackhawks lost on Tuesday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins to end a five-game winning streak, but they hope to get back on the horse tonight against the last-place Montreal Canadiens. The Canadiens have really been struggling of late, as they fired head coach Jacques Martin in the midst of their current three-game losing streak and replaced him with new coach Randy Cunneyworth.
Montreal still hasn't won since tapping Cunneyworth as the new coach, losing at home to New Jersey and on the road to Boston. Now they're facing one of the top teams in the league from Chicago as they hope to get things back on track. The Blackhawks lost in disappointing fashion to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night, but showed their might in making an impressive comeback in the third period to lose 3-2 after trailing 3-0.
The Canadiens have won just three times over their past 12 games, which has dropped them into last place in the Northeast Division. A win against Chicago would be big for their fortunes, but they have a tall hill to climb against the team that's atop the NHL standings.
