Rene Bourque Suspension: Calgary Forward Suspended 2 Games For Hit On Chicago's Brent Seabrook

Chicago's win over Calgary on Sunday night was marred by a scary hit administered to the Blackhawks' Brent Seabrook by Flames forward Rene Bourque. Bourque hit Seabrook from behind, sending him face-first into the boards. The hit resulted in a major penalty and a game misconduct for Bourque, and today the NHL announced it suspended the forward for two games.

Video of the hit, as well as an explanation from Brendan Shanahan, is available here. Seabrook is traveling with the team to Pittsburgh, but his status for Tuesday's game is unclear at this point.

After Sunday's game coach Joel Quenneville indicated Seabrook was "doing much better" and was held out for precautionary measures. Seabrook has suffered several head blows over the last couple seasons.
